Natalia Silva is scheduled to face Cong Wang for the vacant UFC women’s flyweight title in UFC 332’s Oct. 3 main event at Salt Lake City’s Delta Center. Silva’s coach, Carlos Costa, calls them the division’s two best strikers and says he expects Silva to win.
Costa said Silva’s camp had spent months preparing for Valentina Shevchenko, emphasizing takedowns, timing entries and distance control. After Shevchenko vacated the title because of an injury and Wang replaced her, the team changed its training focus. Costa said the switch came somewhat at the last minute and surprised them, particularly because Wang was ranked No. 6.
Silva is 20-5-1, has won 14 straight fights and has never lost in the UFC. Wang is 10-1 and on a four-fight winning streak; she most recently beat Tracy Cortez by unanimous decision.
