Marcelino Castro, 28, faces two murder charges after telling authorities he killed someone and leading police to two male bodies near San Jose’s Guadalupe River. A deputy district attorney says more bodies may be found; neither victim has been identified.
Authorities believe the killing near Tamien Station occurred Sept. 13 and the other, near the Guadalupe River Trail, on Sept. 15 or 16. The police report says Castro told officers he knew the first victim and lured the second to the area.
Castro was expected to be arraigned Thursday. His alleged motive remains unclear. Deputy District Attorney Michael Gadeberg said the victims may have been unhoused, but that has not been confirmed; he said both areas are frequented by unhoused people.
