Saturday at San Francisco’s Portola Music Festival began with local DJs and ran through sets by Tricky, DJ Shadow, Robyn and Soulwax at Pier 80. Despacio drew a line of festivalgoers, Robyn led a sing-along to “Dancing On My Own,” and Soulwax closed the night.
Program Audio curators erika and sfcowboy played back-to-back on the Crane stage, while Felly Fell performed in the Ship tent. Despacio, returning for its second year, opened its doors at 2:45 p.m.; within an hour, its line stretched halfway to the Pier stage. The line moved quickly, though festivalgoers expected a 20-minute wait.
