Pollster Jim McLaughlin says GOP can still reach midterm swing voters

Newsmax

Republican pollster Jim McLaughlin says the GOP can still adjust its message and reach persuadable voters before the Nov. 3 midterms, as early voting begins. He said battleground districts remain competitive, though recent surveys show Democrats leading Republicans by about five.

McLaughlin said his polling found that about 17% of likely voters watched the Republican convention directly; he said Republicans performed strongly among those viewers. He also cited an average loss of about 30 congressional seats for the party in power during midterms.

McLaughlin urged Republicans to focus on economic and tax issues, claiming that if Democrats get their way, some battleground-district residents could face an “$8 to $10,000” tax increase, along with higher property, income and small-business taxes. He also said every Democrat voted for higher taxes on Social Security and tips.
