Kate Middleton visited The Forward Trust in Southend-on-Sea on Sept. 24 to highlight nature’s role in addiction recovery. She wore oxblood loafers instead of her usual heels and learned about Forward Growing, the charity’s gardening project.
Forward Growing brings participants together for weekly outdoor gardening sessions intended to build confidence, teach practical skills and support recovery. The charity hopes to expand the project with a permanent gardening space at Garon Park in Southend-on-Sea.
The visit coincided with Addiction Awareness Week and the Forward Trust’s “Big Addiction Conversation,” which encourages more open discussion about addiction. Last year, Kate said that conversation, a listening ear and care can help people and families seek support.
