Heather Matarazzo says she is struggling to meet the SAG health plan’s $28,090 minimum annual earnings threshold for 2026, adding that many actors face the same hurdle as shorter TV seasons and fewer shows make steady Guild work harder to find.
On Sept. 24, Matarazzo replied to actor Jack Haven’s appeal for work, saying she faced the same problem. Haven had said they needed $4,000 by month’s end to qualify for Guild health insurance in January; Matarazzo said Haven had since received an offer that would let them qualify for 2027.
The plan sets the minimum at $28,933 for 2027, up from $28,090 in 2026; its eligibility page projects increases of roughly $900 a year through 2030. Matarazzo said she remembers when members did not have to meet a minimum to qualify.
