Justin Cooper says his mother kept prison fan mail from him as a child

Justin Cooper said his mother kept letters from jailed fans from him and closely supervised him on set. After “Liar Liar” came out in 1997, when he was 8, people recognized him and sought autographs so often that he said he could hardly go out in public.

Cooper recalled his mother once confronting Don Rickles, who played Mr. Wilson in “Dennis the Menace Strikes Again!”, and asking him not to use foul language in front of her son.
