Sophia Bush and Ashlyn Harris said they are focused on creating a loving, supportive home for their blended family. They told PEOPLE that home means being together and that they teach Harris’s children, Sloane, 5, and Ocean, 4, kindness and service.
At the inaugural A Sense of Home Gala in New York on Sept. 23, the couple received the organization’s Vanguard Angel Award for their advocacy and commitment to a more inclusive, equitable and compassionate world. Harris shares Sloane and Ocean with her ex-wife Ali Krieger; the children were welcomed through adoption.
Harris said the children are fortunate to be born into some privilege, and that she and Bush want to teach them to give back and serve families and communities, including those unlike their own.
