Avengers: Endgame Encore led the North American box office Friday with $11.2 million from 3,060 screens and is expected to reach about $26 million by Sunday. A24’s Primetime ranked second with $8.49 million from 2,874 locations.
Brad Pitt’s The Heart of the Beast placed third with an estimated $7.45 million Friday, with a $20 million domestic opening projected. Resident Evil fell to fourth at $6.9 million, while Forgotten Island placed fifth with $4.38 million.
The 2019 Avengers film’s re-release comes ahead of Avengers: Doomsday, set to open Dec. 18. Endgame grossed $2.799 billion worldwide, making it the second-highest-grossing movie at the time. Primetime follows Chris Hansen’s time hosting Dateline NBC’s To Catch a Predator; after seeing the film, Hansen called it “so bizarre” and “detached from reality.”
