Ian Happ tossed a signed baseball and $300 into the Wrigley Field bleachers Thursday, thanking fans in what may have been his final home game as a Cub. The Cubs have clinched a playoff spot; a wild-card win could give Happ another chance to play at Wrigley.
The ball’s note thanked fans for 10 “incredible years” and their support, and added, “Beers on me” and “Ya'll are the best fans in sports! Go Cubs!” Happ has spent his entire 10-year career with Chicago and is set to become a free agent after the season.
