Auburn beat Missouri in Columbia on Sept. 24, handing the Tigers a third straight loss to open SEC play and leaving them 3-6-1. Auburn built a two-goal lead by the 21st minute; Missouri had seven shots to Auburn’s 21, while Kate Phillips made a career-high 10 saves.
Auburn’s Kelly Gordon assisted both goals: Kennedy Husbands finished her cross in the 16th minute, and Tahirah Turnage-Morales converted an aerial chance five minutes later. Missouri coach Stefanie Golan called the goals “soft” and said her team needed better timing on runs and execution.
Phillips returned to the starting lineup after sitting out Missouri’s first two SEC matchups and made nine of her 10 saves in the second half. Mizzou next travels to face ranked South Carolina, seeking its first SEC win.
