The NHC forecasts tropical-storm-force winds on the Big Island from Friday night and widespread rainfall of 15–30 inches, with up to 35 inches in some areas. The Honolulu weather office warned of catastrophic wind damage and widespread power and communications outages; storm surge could reach 3 feet and make roads near beaches impassable.
The NHC's latest update placed Nolo about 285 miles south of South Point and 455 miles south-southeast of Honolulu. The storm is forecast to turn west and skirt the islands before turning north into the Pacific; a hurricane warning is in effect for offshore Hawaiʻi waters.
