Elizabeth Holmes is reportedly set to move from a minimum-security prison in Bryan, Texas, to an Austin transitional center in August 2027. ABC News reported the plan; The New York Times and NBC News confirmed it. Bureau of Prisons records list her release for February 2030.
Holmes was sentenced in 2022 to more than 11 years in prison for defrauding Theranos investors of hundreds of millions of dollars and was ordered to pay restitution. Theranos had falsely promoted its technology as able to detect diseases, including types of cancer, from drops of finger-pricked blood.
Holmes’s sentence has been reduced several times. In court filings, US District Judge Edward Davila said the shortened sentence still reflected just punishment for her serious offense. ABC News also reported that Holmes plans to live in Austin after her release.
