Cucurella involved in both England goals as Spain rally to win 3-2

SB Nation

Spain started their Nations League campaign with a 3-2 win over England at Wembley after falling behind. Marc Cucurella played all 90 minutes and was involved in both England goals; referee Davide Massa rejected two penalty appeals against him.

Lamine Yamal put Spain ahead in the second minute. Anthony Gordon caught Cucurella out while combining with Jude Bellingham on a counterattack, and Harry Kane then headed England into the lead; Cucurella redirected the on-target header with his knee, but it was not an own goal. Álex Baena scored after Nico O'Reilly lost possession, and Mikel Oyarzabal put Spain ahead 3-2.

The penalty appeals against Cucurella concerned handball and a challenge on Bukayo Saka; Massa ignored both. Kane missed a penalty awarded after a foul by Rodri.
