The Indianapolis Colts will debut their Anvil Strike alternate uniform against the Houston Texans on Sunday, the teams’ 50th meeting. Indianapolis is 0-2 and needs a win at Lucas Oil Stadium to avoid an 0-3 start; kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
The NFL-Nike rivalry-series uniform features a metallic candy-blue helmet and a dark heather-gray-and-anthracite jersey inspired by anvil steel. It is the first Colts jersey to incorporate the team’s horseshoe into its design; owner and chief brand officer Kalen Jackson said the collaboration with Nike took more than two years.
Indianapolis has lost nine straight games, including four in a row at home; its last home win came 11 months ago against Tennessee. The Colts lead the series 33-15-1, but Houston has won the last five meetings under Shane Steichen; each was decided by one possession, with an average margin of 4.2 points. Through two weeks, Indianapolis ranked last in total defense (515 yards allowed per game) and passing defense (338).
