Tim Tebow said Friday he is pausing his relationship with Life Surge while his team conducts an internal investigation into allegations that the Christian group used predatory sales tactics to exploit followers’ faith and financial insecurity.
The “Pablo Torre Finds Out” podcast focused partly on Tebow’s speaking engagements and reported that Life Surge hosts around 30 events annually. It said attendees at one-day events are urged to sign up for “impact classes” with packages priced from $10,000 to $40,000; those unable to afford them are reportedly connected with third-party lenders encouraging credit-card applications or home-equity loans. The podcast reported that Life Surge denied wrongdoing.
Tebow said the podcast caught him off guard when his team shared it with him Thursday. The podcast’s investigation raised questions about his knowledge of Life Surge’s practices.
