Antonia-Beatrice Mircea, 33, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit marriage fraud after admitting her 2024 Atlantic City marriage to U.S. citizen Victor Purilla was a sham to gain citizenship. Charges against Purilla remain pending.
In June 2025, the couple signed an Atlantic City apartment lease; two months later Purilla filed forms seeking citizenship for Mircea. Court documents say both falsely claimed they lived together, though Purilla actually lived at his parents' nearby home; his phone and car were in Absecon most nights. At a December USCIS interview, they gave conflicting accounts of how they met, moved in, Purilla's visits to his parents and their bank accounts.
Mircea faces up to five years in federal prison; sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 27. Purilla faces pending charges of conspiracy, making false statements and marriage fraud. Court documents say he previously married a Bulgarian woman who obtained U.S. citizenship based on that marriage; they divorced in 2019.
