Al Michaels made several mistakes during the Falcons’ opening drive against the Packers on Prime Video’s Thursday Night Football, including saying Michael Penix Jr. played at Oregon and calling Bijan Robinson “Brian Robinson.” Some viewers called for Michaels to retire.
Michaels also appeared to mispronounce receiver Bryan Cissé and said Atlanta was at Green Bay’s 49-yard line, though the Falcons were on their own 49. He later corrected the Oregon mix-up, but clips had circulated on social media.
Michaels, 81, has called football professionally since the 1970s and became Prime Video’s lead Thursday Night Football voice in 2022. The report says some longtime viewers have raised similar concerns about his sharpness during his Amazon broadcasts.
