Mikey Musumeci defeated Bryce Mitchell by unanimous decision in the 15-minute UFC BJJ 11 main event in Las Vegas on Thursday. Mitchell resisted several submission attempts and landed a slam that drew a warning from referee Vitor Ribeiro.
Musumeci threatened with an anaconda choke and power guillotine in round one, then tried an omoplata from his back in round two, but Mitchell defended. The pair had agreed to avoid leg locks; Musumeci drew boos after an early attempt and released the hold. Musumeci said he enjoyed the format and wants more MMA grappling opponents. He is training full time at Syndicate MMA as he moves toward MMA, but no date has been announced for his first fight.
