Los Angeles’ Academy Museum opens The Horror Show on Saturday, with horror-film costumes, props, posters and other artifacts. Displays range from Bela Lugosi’s 1931 “Dracula” cape to costumes from “Weapons” and “Midsommar”; the exhibit runs through July 25, 2027.
The display is organized around themes including slashers, religion, ghosts and science, with interactive photo opportunities such as a coffin and a selfie with Mrs. Bates from “Psycho.” A companion exhibit, “Zombies!,” offers younger visitors an option with less gore.
The museum will also screen horror films alongside the exhibit. The program kicks off with an appearance by Jamie Lee Curtis and John Carpenter for “Halloween,” as well as a Carpenter retrospective.
