Producer Van Toffler says he brought the 2026 VMAs to Los Angeles because it is more convenient for performers and suits host Snoop Dogg. The Peacock Theater is the show's first West Coast venue since 2017; Madonna is set to perform after a 23-year absence.
The two-hour telecast will air in prime time on CBS for a second year and be simulcast on MTV. Taylor Swift is set to premiere her “Patient Zero” video and receive the inaugural Artist Director Honor, which Toffler said recognizes her work in front of and behind the camera.
Kacey Musgraves will perform in the Dolly Parton tribute, while Raye and Teddy Swims will take part in the George Michael tribute. Nirvana will receive MTV's Video Vanguard Award, which Toffler described as the network's highest honor for artists.
