UAE confirms Netanyahu’s Sunday visit as president discusses bilateral ties

The UAE’s WAM news agency confirmed Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu’s Sunday visit, saying President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed discussed bilateral ties with him. Netanyahu’s office said the president invited him, and talks focused on regional challenges and stronger ties.

WAM’s report was the first UAE confirmation of the visit. Three senior Israeli officials said the Sunday meeting lasted six hours and focused on Iran. Earlier this year, the UAE denied a meeting after Netanyahu’s office said in May that he had secretly visited; a source familiar with the earlier meeting said it took place on March 26 in Al-Ain.
