The Detroit Tigers signed multi-year extensions with TV play-by-play voice Jason Benetti and radio play-by-play voice Dan Dickerson, keeping them on Detroit SportsNet and the Tigers Radio Network. Terms weren’t disclosed; Dickerson will also do more TV broadcasts next season.
Dickerson has been a Tigers radio voice since 2000 and the lead radio play-by-play voice since 2003. He has covered TV when Benetti’s national assignments take him away; Benetti remains NBC Sports’ “Sunday Night Baseball” play-by-play voice and also works some college football and basketball.
The Tigers said they hired both broadcasters as team employees, rather than employees of Bally Sports or FanDuel Sports, to prepare for the shift away from the regional-sports-network model. Detroit SportsNet launched this season.
