Ivan Herrera, Jordan Walker and Alec Burleson homered in the same game for the first time, and St. Louis scored three runs in the seventh to tie the game at 4-4. But Milwaukee scored four in the eighth, with two errant throws by Cardinals relievers helping seal an 8-4 win.
With the score tied, Justin Bruihl hit David Hamilton as he squared to bunt, then threw wildly to first after Garrett Mitchell’s bunt, loading the bases. Brice Turang’s single scored two. After Cade Winquest replaced Bruihl, his throw sailed past third on a pickoff attempt; a hit and sacrifice fly added Milwaukee’s final two runs.
St. Louis fell to 2-9 against Milwaukee this season and had lost four straight games in Milwaukee. Starter Michael McGreevy allowed four earned runs on nine hits in 4 2/3 innings in his final start of 2026. Manager Oliver Marmol said the loss was frustrating but expressed excitement about the young middle of the lineup and acknowledged areas the team needs to address.
