Chicago starter Sean Burke allowed only Rumfield's solo homer in 5.1 innings, and the White Sox bullpen shut out Colorado thereafter. The Rockies went 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position and left five on base; Chicago went 2-for-5 and stranded three.
Reliever Juan Mejia gave up four hits and two earned runs in the eighth inning. Murakami's two homers raised his season total to 35, and Colorado had two games left in its season.
