Sen. Ted Cruz says he hopes President Donald Trump will sign the Protect College Sports Act live on ESPN’s “College GameDay” before Texas A&M-Alabama on Oct. 24, if Congress passes it. The Senate still had amendment votes before its final vote, expected that evening.
A proposal from Sen. Ashley Moody would raise the cap on power-conference teams from 19 to 20. Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger reported that neither a hard cap on athlete revenue sharing nor a coaching salary cap would be voted on.
Cruz had initially envisioned a signing before the Ohio State-Texas game on Sept. 12, but the bill had not passed either chamber by then. The House could also return to Washington during its break to vote if needed.
