Taylor Swift will receive the inaugural MTV VMA Artist Director Honors on Sunday, lifting her VMA tally to 31 and past Beyoncé as the VMAs’ most-awarded artist. The award recognizes artists whose work behind the camera advances visual storytelling.
Swift has won Best Direction four times from seven nominations: for “The Man,” “All Too Well: The Short Film,” “Anti-Hero” and “Fortnight.” She wrote and directed the nearly 15-minute “All Too Well” film, which won Video of the Year, Best Longform Video and Best Direction at the 2022 VMAs.
Swift’s attendance has not been confirmed. Her husband, Travis Kelce, and the Kansas City Chiefs are scheduled to face the Miami Dolphins at 1 p.m. ET on Sept. 27; the Los Angeles ceremony is set to air at 7:30 p.m. ET on CBS, with a simulcast on MTV and Paramount+ Premium in the U.S.
