Jimmy Kimmel says Matthew McConaughey hugged him with his penis exposed at the Sept. 14 Emmys. Kimmel had left the ceremony upset by a tribute to friend Cleto Escobedo; Woody Harrelson later joined them in a hug. Kimmel said the encounter lifted his mood.
Kimmel recounted the restroom encounter during Harrelson’s Sept. 21 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. He said McConaughey asked if he was okay and listened as he explained why he had left the ceremony. Kimmel said he asked whether McConaughey’s penis was out; McConaughey answered yes and joked he would rub it against him. Harrelson said he tries not to “grade or critique” other people’s behavior.
Escobedo, Kimmel’s childhood friend and longtime Jimmy Kimmel Live! bandleader, died on Nov. 11, 2025, at age 59. The two had known each other since childhood in Las Vegas.
