Peter Ostrum, who played Charlie Bucket in 1971’s “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory,” appears in episode one of Netflix’s “Wonka’s The Golden Ticket.” He opens a Wonka bar but finds no ticket; the competition began streaming Sept. 23.
The contest starts with 12 Golden Ticket winners, each bringing a partner. They face physical, mental and strategic challenges inspired by Roald Dahl’s story and the 1971 film, competing for what Netflix calls a “lifetime supply of money”; its two-part finale is scheduled for Sept. 30.
The show also features Rusty Goffe, who played an Oompa-Loompa in the 1971 film, with his son Ben. Gene Wilder’s Wonka voice was recreated with permission from his estate.
