Talisa Soto left acting soon after her April 2002 marriage to actor Benjamin Bratt in San Francisco, retiring to focus on family life. The former model played a Bond girl in Licence to Kill and last appeared in 2009’s La Mission; she and Bratt have two children.
Soto signed with Click Model Management at 15 and, within a year, became the first Latina to cover British Vogue. In April 1989, she became the first Latina on the cover of American Vogue. She began acting in 1988 and later appeared in The Mambo Kings, Mortal Kombat and Vampirella.
Bratt said in a 2022 interview that their daughter Sophia had a brain injury at birth and faces a range of challenges; he said her needs inform nearly all of the couple’s personal and professional decisions. He also disclosed that Soto had been diagnosed with breast cancer during the COVID-19 pandemic.
