Taylor Swift’s 13-second preview of “Patient Zero” features Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell. The video premieres at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 27, two days after the single and expanded album The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore arrive Sept. 25.
Swift directed the video, shot by cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki. Unveiled Sept. 24 on CBS Mornings, the teaser shows a cemetery, a black rose and Swift appearing tearful; Johnson sits beside her while Farrell stands nearby. Swift has not disclosed their roles or what the scenes mean.
The expanded album adds “Patient Zero,” “Cleveland!,” “Pink Clouding” and “Babylon” to the original 12-song track list. Swift said the songs came from a later writing session with Max Martin and Shellback in Sweden. MTV will also present her with its inaugural Artist Director Honors at the Sept. 27 ceremony, recognizing her work behind the camera.
