Steph Curry uses infrared sauna for recovery as evidence remains limited

Business Insider

Steph Curry says he uses an infrared sauna for 20–25 minutes on rest days and 15 minutes after games or hard workouts. He credits it with cognitive and testosterone benefits, though an exercise scientist told Business Insider evidence for many sauna claims is limited.

Some research cited in the article suggests regular sauna use may lower blood pressure and stress, while repeated heat exposure may slightly improve endurance by increasing hemoglobin. Exercise scientist Nick Tiller said exercise provides a far stronger cardiovascular and cognitive stimulus; a Finnish study linking sauna use with longer life could not rule out lifestyle factors.

Curry said he became more intentional about his health around age 30, after a manager noticed him squinting during games. He was diagnosed with keratoconus, which can distort vision and worsen over time. Curry says contact lenses and regular checkups keep his vision clear; he has partnered with Glaukos to promote proactive vision care.
