Silver Diner sued Fraport, alleging it breached their 2022 contract by demanding an $8 million–$10 million rebuild. The Maryland-owned restaurant at BWI says the work could force closure and cost 120 jobs; more than 1,000 supporters seek a lease extension without it.
Silver Diner has operated at BWI since 2007 and says it is the only locally owned and operated restaurant in the Southwest terminal. It promotes farm-to-table meals through partnerships with more than a dozen local farms.
Silver Diner said the rebuild would take significant time and leave employees out of work. Fraport and the Maryland Aviation Administration did not immediately respond to People’s requests for comment.
