Sienna Spiro will make her MTV VMAs performance debut Sunday and is a Best New Artist nominee. “Great Expectation” recently became her first U.K. No. 1, making the 20-year-old the youngest English female artist to top the Official Singles Chart in 12 years.
Spiro began posting singing covers on TikTok in 2021 and was later scouted by Capitol Records. After her first singles in 2024 and debut EP Sink Now, Swim Later in 2025, she signed a global deal with Sony Music Publishing in December 2025. Over the past year, she released breakthrough single “Die On This Hill,” her debut album Visitor in July, and embarked on a sold-out first U.S. headlining tour.
Spiro said she admires 1960s fashion, including Twiggy’s style, and singers such as Nancy Sinatra, Barbra Streisand and Françoise Hardy. Her father introduced her to soul and jazz records, where she gravitated toward vocalists Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin and Sarah Vaughan.
