Sharon Stone says she made her high school’s boys’ golf team to push for girls’ sports

At Variety’s Sept. 23 Power of Women event, Sharon Stone said she made her high school’s boys’ golf team after finding no sports teams for girls, then quit, saying the team did not want a girl; she wanted to show the school girls needed their own team.

Stone recalled telling school administrators she would sue if they did not let her try out. She said she continues to champion women in sports and cited the efforts and sacrifices of those who pushed through barriers.
