Lili Reinhart says she barely remembers her seven seasons on “Riverdale,” describing them as “kind of traumatic” amid the show’s rapid rise and sudden attention on its young cast. She said she was glad TikTok was not yet a cultural force when the series took off.
On the “In Your Dreams with Owen Thiele” podcast, Reinhart said TikTok could have made the attention even more intense and that a bigger version of “Riverdale”’s popularity might have been too much for the cast. Seeing young actors face viral attention has made her sympathetic; she said nobody deserves so many people commenting on their existence.
“Riverdale” ended in 2023, but Reinhart said strangers still call her Betty. She sometimes finds that frustrating but understands it comes from affection and considers playing Betty a privilege. She now stars opposite Tom Bateman in “The Love Hypothesis,” an adaptation of Ali Hazelwood’s romance novel, and produces the film, released globally on Prime Video Sept. 23.
