Sharon Stone said Sydney Sweeney should “take responsibility” for her nearly nude Novig sports-betting ad, criticized by female athletes. At Variety’s Sept. 23 Power of Women event, Stone said women’s sports should not be denigrated to attract men to gamble.
The Novig campaign shows Sweeney in provocative poses with sports equipment as she promotes betting predictions for the NBA, NFL and other sports. British track athlete Amy Hunt said, “this is what women in sport look like,” while gymnast Gracie Kramer called the ad “a massive step backward” and said women should not have to undress to prove they belong in sports.
