Scott Porter said his bleached-blond hair was for a rock performance with Raffi and the Rippers, after critics questioned the look on Instagram. He pushed back at a “mid-life crisis” comment, then apologized for insulting its author; the commenter also apologized.
Porter debuted the hair at the NBCUniversal pre-Emmy party on Sept. 12 and showed it in a Sept. 20 Instagram post recapping an event with TV Guide. Asked if the look was for a role, he said it was for a performance with the band, adding that they sold out the Troubadour.
Comments on the post were divided, with some praising the look and others asking Porter to return to brown hair. He replied “Make me” to one request.
