Several men arrested on suspicion of Explosives Act offences near RAF Fairford

Residents of Whelford near RAF Fairford have been evacuated to a leisure centre after a major incident was declared. Police say several men were arrested on suspicion of offences under the Explosives Act; officers believe the incident is contained.

An Army specialist explosive ordnance disposal team is examining a number of vehicles. Police said a cordon was in place. A large emergency services presence was seen in the area, including a Hazardous Area Response Team.
