Rutgers women’s soccer lost 1-0 to No. 12 UCLA in Piscataway on Thursday despite outshooting the Bruins 15-5. Cate Sarinopoulos scored at 84:22; Rutgers managed just one shot on target and fell to its third straight one-goal defeat.
UCLA had not attempted a shot since 48:32 before Sarinopoulos scored at 84:22. Bruins goalkeeper Daphne Nakfoor made one save for her third clean sheet of the season.
The result left Rutgers 2-4-3 overall and 1-3-0 in Big Ten play, with one goal in its last 180 minutes; UCLA improved to 6-3-1 and 3-1-0. Rutgers hosts No. 14 Wisconsin on Sunday at 1 p.m., while UCLA visits Maryland.
