At a New York luncheon on Sept. 22, Sally Ann Ranney paid tribute to Ted Turner, her partner of 16 years, four months after he died at 87. She recalled their first visit to his Montana ranch and said he taught her to value time.
Ranney recalled Turner taking her to the 113,000-acre Flying D Ranch in Montana, where he surveyed a valley of wildflowers and bison and told her, “Darling, I own everything you see.” She also praised his ability to anticipate what was coming.
Ranney said Turner slowed down in the last two to three years of his life, mostly because of physical limitations from Lewy body disease. He went public with his dementia diagnosis in 2018. She said he rarely complained and kept his sense of humor, strong will and integrity.
