Saints quarterback Tyler Shough leads the NFL with 662 passing yards and 62 completions through two games before Sunday's visit to Las Vegas. Canal Street Chronicles' Nic Jennings praised his deep passing and resilience but said New Orleans' slow starts remain a concern.
Jennings also cited Shough's NFL-best 99.9 deep-passing grade from Pro Football Focus, along with a 75% completion rate and 156.3 passer rating, which he said rank atop the league. New Orleans scored six first-half points and 48 in the second halves and overtime across its first two games; Jennings said he could not explain the slow starts.
Left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. is headed to injured reserve with an ankle injury, and Asim Richards is set to replace him. Jennings said the Saints may use quicker throws, chips, tight-end help or pocket movement to protect Richards from Maxx Crosby. He also said he would watch how New Orleans covers Brock Bowers, if the Raiders tight end returns, and Michael Mayer.
