With New England’s offense off to a slow start after two games, coordinator Josh McDaniels said Thursday the Patriots should focus on steady improvement rather than a drastic change. Drake Maye has thrown four interceptions and taken six sacks.
Maye said the Patriots were in a similar position last season, at 1-2 before scoring 42 points against the Panthers in Week 4 and starting an 11-game winning streak.
McDaniels said the first month is about growth and warned that abruptly changing course or pressing harder for immediate results can backfire. He said offensive execution depends on all 11 players and the coaches, and that Maye needs to avoid putting the ball in harm’s way.
