Freeman senior Rylee Peters recorded her 1,000th career dig during a four-set win over Bridgewater-Emery on Sept. 15. The primary outside hitter leads the Flyers with 181 kills; Freeman is 11-5 after Thursday’s road sweep of Menno.
Freeman developed Peters’ back-row defense after she had earlier played only as a front-row hitter, coach Sherrie Kafka said. Peters also had 171 season digs, 15 blocks and 26 aces. Senior Cadence Hofer recorded 183 digs, while junior Libby Ammann led the team with 393 set assists.
Freeman was scheduled to open a Saturday tournament at Great Plains Lutheran High School in Watertown against Castlewood at 9 a.m.
