RioFilme will unveil a R$100 million ($20 million) incentive call for film and TV projects at RioMarket on Oct. 1, covering production, development, distribution and international co-productions. Applications open Oct. 2, with funding due in early 2027.
The six lines allocate $10.4 million to at least 20 feature fiction and animation films; $2 million to at least three live-action fiction or animated series; and $2.4 million to at least 12 documentaries for cinema, TV or streaming. The other lines provide $1 million for 20 development projects, $1.2 million to distribute at least 12 feature films, and $3 million for at least four fiction or animated international co-productions. The first five require a Rio-based lead producer; the co-production line also accepts projects where local companies hold a minority stake.
Funding comes from Brazil’s Fundo Setorial do Audiovisual (FSA) under an agreement with the National Cinema Agency (Ancine). RioFilme says it has met the required counterpart contribution—one-third of Ancine’s total investment—through two incentive programs totaling $6.6 million this year. The selection process will take place in the fourth quarter of 2026. It is the partners’ second $20 million call; last year’s did not include international co-production funding.
