Six Texas universities placed in the top 100 of U.S. News & World Report’s 2027 national universities ranking: Rice at No. 16, UT Austin at 34, Texas A&M at 59 (tied), SMU at 85 (tied), and Baylor and TCU at 90 (tied). The rankings were released Sept. 22.
U.S. News evaluated more than 1,700 schools using factors including graduation rates, student-faculty ratios and other measures of academic performance.
Other Texas universities ranked in the national top 250 were UT Dallas (No. 121), the University of Houston (137), Texas Tech (186), the University of St. Thomas (202), the University of North Texas (208), UT San Antonio (227), UT Arlington (236) and UT Rio Grande Valley (250).
