Atlanta fell 7-6 to Cincinnati in its home regular-season finale Thursday, despite scoring four runs in the first and taking a 6-5 lead in the fifth. Tyler Mahle allowed five runs over five innings; a two-run homer off AJ Smith-Shawver in the sixth put the Reds ahead.
Austin Riley hit a 421-foot homer in the fourth, his second straight night with a home run, and Mike Yastrzemski’s fifth-inning RBI single briefly put Atlanta ahead. Dylan Dodd retired all six batters he faced in the eighth and ninth, striking out three.
Atlanta heads to Miami to finish the regular season against the Marlins. Friday’s first pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET.
