Marcelino Castro, 28, was arrested on suspicion of murder after allegedly telling a San Jose officer on Sept. 19 that he had killed someone and directing police to two bodies. Authorities say the killings occurred days apart; their motive remains under investigation.
According to Castro’s criminal complaint, he told officers he buried one victim in a shallow grave near Tamien Station. The complaint says he showed detectives a second body wrapped in a red tent near the Guadalupe River; prosecutors say he told them he lured that man to a secluded area, strangled him and struck him with a rock.
Santa Clara County Deputy District Attorney Michael Gadeberg said the first victim knew Castro and the second did not. Asked whether there might be more victims, he said he “wouldn’t be shocked”; the victims’ identities have not been publicly released.
