Oklahoma State gains 609 yards in win over West Virginia

SB Nation

Oklahoma State beat West Virginia after a second-quarter red-zone interception helped cut WVU’s 14-6 lead to 14-13 at halftime. The Cowboys scored touchdowns on three of their next four second-half possessions and gained 609 yards.

West Virginia ran for 335 yards and converted 9 of 17 third downs, but completed 10 of 22 passes for 132 yards. Michael Hawkins was sacked four times, all on key third- or fourth-down plays.

Oklahoma State ran for 220 yards at 5.4 yards per carry, and its quarterback was truly under pressure on only one dropback, the writer says. The writer also says WVU fielded four safeties and criticizes the plan for failing to contain the run.
