The Texas Rangers beat the Minnesota Twins 6-2 on Saturday. Josh Jung was placed on the injured list before the game with a fractured hand; replacement Nicky Lopez left with heel and ankle issues but said he would be ready for Sunday's game.
Shawn McFarland wrote that Nathan Eovaldi came up big in what he described as a must-win game. Ahead of Game 162, Evan Grant returned to his view that the Rangers lacked an identity, a theme he had raised throughout the season.
Justin Verlander pitched what the roundup described as the final game of his Hall of Fame career on Saturday. As manager A.J. Hinch came out to take him out, Verlander's daughter Genevieve accompanied Hinch.
